PRESS RELEASE – AUGUST 2024

Nov 4, 20242 min read

Discover the hidden side of recycled gold!

At a time when awareness and consumption habits are changing, recycled gold is, in our view, being misused by jewellery companies. We consider the term a form of “greenwashing”, used to mislead customers and create confusion through a word with positive connotations. This August, we present three articles that challenge this perception and propose concrete solutions to the many issues raised by the trade and extraction of this precious metal around the world.

Recycled Gold: An Ecological Myth

In this article, we explore what recycled gold is and why we believe it represents an ecological myth. It presents the different issues surrounding gold and emphasizes the crucial importance of traceability, which unfortunately few jewellery houses offer their customers.

Smuggled Gold in Switzerland: Issues, Challenges and Consequences

Drawing on the report published by the NGO Swissaid in 2024 on the gold trade and its many consequences, we present a summary and examine the challenges this metal raises in Switzerland and around the world.

Open Letter on the Use of Recycled Gold

This open letter questions gold more broadly, with a particular focus on recycled gold as a form of “greenwashing”. It proposes a concrete solution and calls for greater transparency in the jewellery industry.
