Fairtrade Platinum Does Not Yet Exist

According to data from the International Platinum Group Metals Association, over 95% of the world’s platinum comes from industrial mines, primarily located in Southern Africa and Russia. The Fairtrade program was designed for small-scale artisanal mining. As of today, no platinum supply chain yet meets its certification criteria.

At AGUAdeORO, we believe a jewel is only truly precious if it respects both people and the planet. In the absence of Fairtrade-certified platinum, we choose to work exclusively with controlled sources — in full transparency.

Traceability That Matters

We closely follow the work of independent organizations like the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA), as well as traceability standards based on OECD guidelines. We use only traceable platinum from verified supply chains: each batch is documented, and we systematically ask our suppliers to disclose the mine of origin.

A Clear Commitment to Progress

Our position is clear: as soon as a Fairtrade or equivalent certification becomes available for platinum, we will adopt it without hesitation.

For us, luxury should never come at the expense of human dignity or environmental balance.
